The Mets gained a split with the Cardinals in their doubleheader winning the nightcap 5-2. Will Bonnington pitched a fine ballgame going five innings and allowing just two runs on five hits. Elijah Bryan started well for the Cards, holding the Mets without a run or a hit until Brandon Peterson tripled to left center to lead off the fourth.
Ricky Montoya delivered a clutch single to center to cut
the Cards' lead 2-1. In the fifth after a lead off walk to Michael Kelly,
Peterson lined a double to right center to tie the ballgame. Montoya came thru
again, this time with a booming double to left center to give the Mets their
margin of victory. For the Cardinals, Daniel Golden stroked two doubles, and
Russell Mundy, Kevin Kennedy, and Alex Cummings all singled.
